Get the Royalty Treatment with Functional and Natural-looking Dental Crowns

Dental crowns in Highland, Utah, are excellent teeth restorations if tooth damage is too pronounced for a dental filling. As long as the root structure is intact, a dental crown reinforces the remaining tooth structure to provide your tooth with durable function and aesthetics.

Why do you need a dental crown?

A dental crown is an appliance designed to resemble a tooth. It completely covers the tooth’s visible section above the gum line. The crown enhances the tooth’s shape, size, color, and health, making it a versatile option for numerous dental problems.

Our dentist may recommend a dental crown to:

  • Reinforce your tooth after a root canal
  • Top off your dental implant
  • Support a traditional dental bridge
  • Repair a large cavity or tooth decay
  • Cosmetically improve a misshapen, rotated, or severely discolored tooth

Placing dental crowns requires an eye for aesthetics as well as technical skill. Treehouse Dental understands that a successful crown not only restores the function of your tooth but also provides optimal aesthetics. Our skilled dentists go the extra mile in crafting your crown, considering the unique contours of your smile and ensuring a natural appearance. With attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, we strive to enhance the health and beauty of your smile with expertly designed crowns.

How are dental crowns placed?

Placing your crown involves two easy appointments with our doctors. The first appointment is a consultation, during which we will understand your concerns and expectations. If we determine that a crown is best suited for your oral issues, we’ll inspect your tooth with digital x-rays and photographs to determine your eligibility for a crown.

Next, we’ll prepare your tooth by removing the decayed or damaged bits and reshaping the enamel to create space for your crown. Then, we’ll take digital scans of your prepped tooth to create a blueprint for fabricating your crown. Until your permanent crown is ready, we’ll protect your tooth from injuries, infections, and extreme temperatures with an interim crown.

You’ll schedule another appointment with our office when we receive your crown. The dentist will remove your temporary crown, clean your tooth, and test your new crown. Where necessary, we’ll adjust your crown’s fit, alignment, and aesthetics to your liking. Finally, we’ll permanently secure your crown to the tooth with dental cement.

How do I maintain my crown?

Although dental crowns are designed with durable materials, they must be maintained well to provide the expected function and longevity.

Observe the following tips to keep your crowns looking their best.

  • Brush and floss your teeth diligently
  • Visit your dentist every six months for routine exams and cleanings
  • Shield your teeth with a customized mouthguard if you brux teeth or participate in contact sports
  • Quit smoking
  • Stop using your teeth as tools to open bottles and cut fingernails
